Wu Xinghan, the former director general of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and current chairman of the Shandong Province Development Group, has been recognized for his contributions to China and global affairs.

Born in Zibo, Shandong Province, Wu Xinghan graduated from Tsinghua University with a degree in international relations and earned a master's degree in economics from Harvard University. He joined the WTO as its first deputy director general in 1998 and served in that position until 2005.

During his tenure at the WTO, Wu Xinghan played a key role in negotiating several major trade agreements, including the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the Uruguay Round Multilateral Trade Negotiations, and the Doha Round of multilateral trade negotiations.

In addition to his work at the WTO, Wu Xinghan also made significant contributions to China's economic development. He served as the vice-chairman of the China International Economic Exchange Corporation and the executive director of the China-ASEAN Business Council.

As chairman of the Shandong Province Development Group, Wu Xinghan continues to play an important role in promoting economic growth and development in Shandong Province. Under his leadership, the group has invested heavily in infrastructure projects, such as highways, bridges, and airports, which have helped to improve transportation links between different parts of the province and beyond.
